I’m a beat person, first and foremost. If the beat or rhythm of a song grabs me, I’m going for the ride wholeheartedly. Some songs grow on you and some are instant jammies. That first time you hear something new is the best. I keep an ear out for those little underlying sounds and effects. The unpredictable chords that come out of nowhere can make any wall flower move – I live for those. The vocal patterns that dip into notes and melodies that can have you thinking you can follow along and sing are gems
I love a party. The chance to get your loved ones in a room, on a dancefloor, dancing and smiling at the same time is like no other feeling. Songs can be like prayers moving through your body. Playing the right track can be like a worship session, grabbing everyone in the room because of a feeling they get from it.
Becoming a dj was like a no brainer. Music has surrounded me since day uno. I was lucky my family loves music, and loves to throw parties. So this thing has been in my blood since forever. Growing up in LA during the 80s and 90s was a blessing, musically. There were so many scenes going on – skaters, rude boys and girls, hip hop, house, raves, ditching parties, etc. Radio shows like Mars FM and djs like Tony Largo, Doc Martin, Rob One, Ron D Core, Frankie Bones, Thee-o were where I drew some of my early inspiration. I gotta give it up to my biggest music inspiration, my sister, Raquel. She took me to some of the most memorable shows in my life & never dissed me for being her little sister. Now it’s time to spread the love and share all I know about music.
